The Square-lipped Rhinoceros is more commonly known as the White Rhinoceros. One theory is that the English word "white" is a mistranslation of the Dutch word "wijd", which means "wide" in English. The Square-lipped Rhino certainly has a wide mouth.Brown-hooded Kingfisher

The Brown-hooded Kingfisher is an insect feature and one of eight species of Kingfishers in Kruger alone. There is one widespread Kingfisher in the US and 2 more living only along the Mexican Border. The variety of life in South Africa is remarkable.Water Thick-knee

Strange birds with two strange names. Thick-knees used to be called Dikkops ( "thick head" in Afrikaans) . They are night feeders, hence the big eyes, Their days are spent sleeping on the beach for which they are well camouflaged. These two are on an island affording them increased safety.Fork-tailed Drongo

The Drongo is one of the cleverest birds in Southern Africa and perhaps a psychopathic liar. The study of Drongos by Tom Flower of the University of Capetown has shown that Drongos habitually steal food from other birds and animals by mimicking their alarm calls to obtain a quarter of their food.Hooked-lipped (Black) Rhinoceros

Here you can see the hooked lip which they use to gather clumps of grass, tear them off and eat them. They are best suited for partially wooded country, While the White Rhinoceros is best suited for open plans, where it eats like a lawn mower.
